Fast data loading via Excel
Importing from Excel is the quickest way to get your data in. It automatically creates teachers and subjects based on what's in the file.
Before you import
- Make sure all your classes are already added to the app.
- If you're using subgroups, set those up first too.
Warning: Importing will replace your existing lesson list.
How to import
Go to Lessons → Import lessons.
- Download the template — it includes formatting rules and examples.
- Fill it in and upload your file.
Template structure
| Teacher name | Subject name | Classes | Lessons/week |
|---|---|---|---|
| John Smith | MATH | 5A | 4 |
| Emily Jones | ART | 5A/7B/8A | 1 |
| Emily Jones | ART | 9C | 0.5 |
Rules to follow
- Teacher name: Keep it consistent. Any spelling variation will create a duplicate teacher record.
- Subject name: Maximum 5 characters.
- Classes: Use
/to assign a lesson to multiple classes (e.g.,5A/7B). - Lessons/week: Use
0.5for lessons that happen every other week.
Assigning subgroups
To assign a lesson to a subgroup, use: CLASS:DIVISION:SUBGROUP_NAME (e.g., 10A:Advanced:S1). Combine multiple subgroups with / (e.g., 10A:Advanced:S1/10B:Advanced:S1).
See the subgroup import guide for more detail.
If the import fails
You'll get a list of errors with row numbers. Fix the issues in your file and upload again.
After a successful import
You can edit individual lessons or update teachers and classes from their own sections.
