Importing lessons with divisions from Excel
When importing lessons from Excel, you can assign them to specific subgroups using a colon-separated format in the Classes column.
Template structure
| Teacher name | Subject name | Classes | Lessons/week |
|---|---|---|---|
| James Wilson | ENG | 10A:Advanced:S1 | 2 |
| James Wilson | ENG | 10C:Advanced:S2 | 3 |
Subgroup syntax
Use this format for subgroup assignments:
CLASS:DIVISION:SUBGROUP_NAME
Examples:
10A:Advanced:S1— class 10A, divisionAdvanced, subgroupS1.10B:Beginner Languages:French— class 10B, divisionBeginner Languages, subgroupFrench.
If you just write the class name (e.g., 5A), the lesson is assigned to the whole class.
Before you import
Divisions and subgroups must already exist in the app before you import. If a name in the file doesn't match exactly, that row will fail to import.
Combining subgroups from multiple classes
To assign one lesson to subgroups from different classes, separate them with /:
10A:Advanced:S1/10B:Advanced:S1
You can also mix subgroups and full classes:
10A:Advanced:S1/10B:Advanced:S1/10C
Non-weekly lessons
Use 0.5 in the lessons/week column for bi-weekly lessons. Note that non-weekly lessons can't be combined with subgroup assignments at this time.
