Lesson for a subgroup
Last updated: May 17, 2026
Lessons assigned to part of a class
Not all lessons involve the entire class. When a class is split into subgroups — for example, language groups or optional subjects — each subgroup needs its own lesson entry.
How it works
- Each subgroup is part of a division defined on the class (e.g. division
Beginner Languageswith subgroupsEnglish,French,German). - You create one lesson per subgroup, each assigned to a different teacher or subject as needed.
- The scheduler knows which subgroups belong to the same division and will try to keep their slots aligned to avoid gaps in students' timetables.
Adding subgroup lessons
Simple Add — In the Class field, select the class then pick the specific subgroup from the division list.
Quick Add — In the Groups column, select the subgroup chip for the relevant class.
Excel import — Use CLASS:DIVISION:SUBGROUP_NAME in the Classes column (e.g. 10A:Beginner Languages:English).
Important
Every subgroup in a division must have at least one lesson assigned. If any subgroup is left without a lesson, the timetable generation will report an error.
