Lesson unavailability

You can mark specific periods as unavailable for individual lessons to stop them from being scheduled at those times. These constraints only affect that lesson — they don't change the teacher's or class's availability.

Go to Lessons → Edit and find the Periods of unavailability section.

Unavailability types

• Block (Strict) (Red): The lesson will never be placed in these slots.
• Avoid (Flexible) (Yellow): We'll try to keep these slots free, but may use them if there's no other option.

Greyed-out cells

Greyed-out cells are already blocked by the teacher's or class's own unavailability (e.g., a teacher's day off). You don't need to set anything here — it's handled automatically.

How to configure

1. Pick your tool: Block (Strict) or Avoid (Flexible).
2. Click a cell to mark it, or click and drag to mark a range.
3. Click a day or period header to mark the entire row or column.

To remove a marker, click the cell again with the same tool. Use Reset all to clear everything.

Tips

Use Avoid (Flexible) where you can — it keeps things flexible and easier for the scheduler to solve. If you need to block a teacher's entire availability, do it in their profile rather than on each lesson individually.
