When to use divisions

When to use divisions

Use divisions whenever only part of a class attends a lesson. Setting up a division tells the scheduler which groups should run in parallel, so students don't end up with free periods.

Language groups

When a class splits for different languages (e.g., French and German), a division keeps those lessons aligned in the same time slots.

Elective subjects

For electives like Informatics or Music, putting them in a division makes sure all students from the class are in a lesson at the same time — no one is left with a gap.

Physical education

If a class splits for PE by gender or activity, a division keeps both groups' schedules compact and gap-free.

Laboratory sessions

When a lab can't fit the whole class, split them into subgroups for rotating sessions. The scheduler will place each subgroup in a separate period while keeping the overall schedule consistent.

Note: If every lesson involves the whole class, you don't need divisions.
